At Veolia, we play an important role in protecting and preserving our natural environment, making businesses more sustainable and helping our local communities. And, despite all the challenges faced over the past 18 months, we’ve achieved so much when it comes to sustainability in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
To summarise some of our great achievements, we’re pleased to release our 2020 Sustainability Report. Here's a quick summary of what you'll find in it!
People
Throughout 2020, we placed a special emphasis on mental health and wellbeing. This included a series of video interviews with our regional directors on their approach to mental health.
Social
We marked the 10-year anniversary of the Veolia Connect community fund, and celebrated global awareness day such as Earth Day, Environment Day and Biodiversity Day.
Environmental
Our work with Business in the Community Northern Ireland continued and we signed up as a Business Supporter of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan.
Commercial
Our utilities management and waste management contract with a major food ingredients manufacturer in Northern Ireland was renewed. During the previous contract we delivered an 83% improvement in reliability and a 30% improvement in energy performance while facilitating a move to seven-day production.
Economic and Financial
Our investment in our IT infrastructure allowed us to keep our employees safe and continue to collect and treat waste, operate water and wastewater treatment plants and deliver secure, reliable supplies of industrial utilities.
