A leading supplier of food products to international markets needed to expand their Northern Ireland manufacturing facility.
Guaranteeing a reliable supply of industrial utilities while reducing the cost of energy as the plant expanded is something that Veolia’s onsite facilities team has delivered.
The challenge
An efficient solution was needed to supply steam and electricity to keep production running at all times during a major expansion when the client needed to focus on its core business.
The solution
Veolia undertook an extensive review of the utility systems on site and developed a wide ranging solution to address the challenges of reliability, efficiency and cost control.
First and foremost, a utilities SCADA control system was developed and installed. Measures were then put in place to improve the resilience of the electricity system. Upgrading the boiler and refrigeration control systems helped to improve energy efficiency, along with various other projects that were implemented through the facility.
This is a continuous process which is facilitated by Veolia through implementing projects identified through our Register of Opportunities while providing ongoing operations and maintenance support.
Value delivered
Utility reliability has improved by 82% and utility cost performance has dramatically improved.
